Adult & Senior Activities

The aim of the CAMEO group is to have an afternoon of fun, laughter, a sing-song, and a little bit of Spiritual infilling.  It's a chance to get out, get together with like-minded people, make new friends and simply have fun.

Though we are mainly aimed at the more mature age group, we have members who are in their 40's.  Our group is open to both ladies and gentlemen; in other words, all are welcome to come and join in the fun.  Though some of our group are Christians, you don't have to be; we are open to ALL.

We meet on a Tuesday afternoon between about 2 & 3 pm.  No need to make any prior arrangements, just come along and join in.

As well as regular weekly meetings, we have occasional guest speakers who come with a wealth of diverse knowledge and enlighten us with interesting talks.  In addition we take once yearly day trips  to various places of interest, usually chosen by the group themselves.  In the past we have been to Swanage in Dorset; Hadleigh Farm, Exbury Gardens and London.

Every October we arrange a trip to Fernham Hall in Fareham where we join with other Salvation Army groups like ours from all over the South, for one massive Rally of fun.  We all agree that it's a really good day out and we look forward to the following year.

So, if you need to get out of the house, if you like to let your hair down a little bit and want to make new friends, just turn up on the day!

We look forward to welcoming you.

And

What is ‘OPEN DOOR’?

OPEN DOOR is a place where anyone can come for a chat, a listening ear, a drink (tea/coffee), a place of prayer, where food can be brought for the food bank or even to collect food parcels if there is a need.

We are open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday between 9.30 & 11.30 am.

This is run by volunteers from The Salvation Army who are always willing to help

in whatever way possible.  Unfortunately, there may be times when we are not able to assist, but in these situations we are willing to point you in the direction of people who may be able to help you out.

We are not here to judge anyone but to show that love, care and compassion and a friendly face that some people may need.
